  • Anger displacement

Anger displacement is a psychological phenomenon where an individual redirects their anger or frustration away from the original source (which may be too intimidating, threatening, or inaccessible) towards a more vulnerable or convenient target. This can be a person, object, or even oneself.
The original source can be the person, situation, or event that initially triggered the anger or frustration.

Anger displacement can be a coping mechanism, but it can also lead to unhealthy relationships, conflict, and unresolved issues. Recognizing and addressing the original source of anger is crucial for constructive expression and resolution.

    How it affects relationships

Anger can be normal and healthy, but displaced anger kills intimacy and creates a wedge between partners. It eats away at the foundation of the relationship and makes one partner feel like an emotional punching bag. This could also occur as triggered displaced anger, which is when one person unintentionally says or does something that elicits the other person to project. Over time, these repeated behaviors lead to more conflict.

    • Affects their partner’s self-esteem
    • Communication breakdown
    • Erodes trust
    • Emotional distance
    • Escalating conflicts
    • Negative role modeling
    • Isolation
    • Resentment
    • Stifled growth

    Coping up with displaced anger

    • Disengage and retract yourself from the situation
    • Phone a friend
    • Self-soothe
    • Re-enter the situation at a later time
    • Talk to a therapist

  • Quote of the day

My brothers and sisters, our faith comes to us as gift and as a calling given to each of us by God. Our faith is a call to action, Jesus sends us out to bear witness in our lives that he is truly the son of God.

  • Saint of the Day

    Saint Apollonius the Apologist

A martyr whose defense of the faith is considered one of the most priceless documents of the early Church.
    – Saint James Oldo: A wealthy married man who shared the “good life” with his wife. He and his wife became Secular Franciscans and, upon her death, Saint James became a priest.

  • Trust

When my soul is tormented, my only thought is this: Jesus is good and full of mercy, and even if the world were to fall apart under my feet, I would not stop trusting in Him (Diary 1192).

  • The Arms of God

Lord, I do run to You.  I pray that I will daily build a habit of running to You in all things.  I pray that I will turn to You with my every need.  I cling to You, Divine Lord, and seek to rely upon You always.  Jesus, I trust in You.

When a child is frightened or gets hurt, the natural place of comfort is the arms of a parent.  This is the first thing a crying child looks for.  So it must be with us.  The arms of our Father in Heaven, and Jesus our Savior, are what we must run to in our need.  We should not hesitate to turn to God in all things, especially when tempted to despair, or when we recognize our weakness and sin.

When burdens weigh you down, or when you get angry or are tempted to despair, where do you turn?  Some turn to sinful fleshly comforts, others to harsh words, and others run to God.  Run to God in every moment!  Ideally, we run to Him when life is good and when we are filled with great joy and consolation.  But God also wants us to run to Him, immediately, when life is hard.  Make the arms of God the first thing you think about when you find yourself in need.

    *FIRST READING*

_“They went about preaching the word.”_

*A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles 8: 1b-8*

On that day a great persecution arose against the Church in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the region of Judea and Samaria, except the Apostles. Devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him. But Saul laid waste the Church, and entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and committed them to prison. Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word. Philip went down to a city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Christ. And the multitudes with one accord gave heed to what was said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs which he did. For unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice; and many who were paralysed or lame were healed. So there was much joy in that city.

    *GOSPEL*

_“This is the Will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son should have Eternal Life.”_

*A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John 6: 35-40*

At that time: Jesus said to the crowds, “I am the Bread of Life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to me; and him who comes to Me I will not cast out. For I have come down from Heaven, not to do my own will, but the Will of Him who sent Me; and this is the Will of Him who sent Me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given Me, but raise it up at the last day. For this is the Will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in Him should have Eternal Life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

  • Faith amidst pain

Your pain is only a way that God is using to remind you that He loves you so much, you may not be able to realise this but it is possible. Maybe you had strayed away and He wants to remind you that He still exists, He wants to bring you back among the flock. Be grateful for that pain, for it is through that the Lord bestows graces upon us, look at the life of Jesus, He endured all the pain inorder to fulfill the will of the father. It is through that pain that He blesses us the more. One who seeks God at all times finds Him, for He never hides His face from His beloved. Many people are only in good terms with God when everything in their lives is moving on smoothly, when tides come, waves of infirmities and sickness come they become despaired, they lose hope and they instead curse God but blessed is he who seekes the face of God in both bad and good moments, how much grace will God grant those who remain faithful in times of trials. God loves us so much and He sees all the pain we go through everyday however, he wants to see how much faith we have in Him. He wants to see how much we love Him, it is through the tries that He examines us. Not every pain however is meant to go away, God leaves some on us as a sacrifice for our own salvation or for the salvation of others, if It is His will that He takes away the pain then so it will be and if He chooses to leave it for His greater glory then so shall it be. But what I must say is, He lets the hurdles come our way to show us how much He truly loves us and always remember God does not tempt, it is the devil that tempts us, God only tests our faith, obedience and love for Him. To Him everything He lets our way is good for He the word is ever good, He has never and will never be bad. Take heart and trust in the Lord at all times.

  • Mass

If people knew how important Holy Mass is, there would be need of deploying Police Officers outside Churches to limit the number of people going inside.

In the Holy Mass, Christ is truly present; divinity soul and body.

  • Trust

O Lord, although I cannot comprehend You and do not understand Your work, yet I trust in Your mercy. If it is Your will, O Lord, that I should live forever in this darkness, be blessed. I ask for one thing, O my Jesus, do not let me offend You in any way at all (Diary 73).
